Project Scope
Arreton Valley Nurseries substation is situated in premises of Wight Salads Ltd on the Isle of Wight. The network consists of 1 x 33/11kV 35MVA Transformer, 6 board 11kV indoor switchgear, 4 x 5.5MW CHP generators, 3 x 1.94MW CHP generators and 1 x 5MW Solar PV generation. The total export capacity is approximately 33MW. The plant has been experiencing spurious tripping which has led to the opening of DNO metering breaker.
Our Scope
- To undertake a fresh grading study, provide background findings on the existing protection relay settings to identify any grading issues and recommend the best settings by taking into consideration the most onerous power system fault and plant conditions

- Identified the key errors on the existing settings
- Highlighting the inadequacies in the existing protection system that needs immediate rectifications
- Provided an independent technical justification on the cause of the spurious tripping
